Biography

Bruno Pelletier’s long career has taken him all over the world, far beyond his native Québec. Always remaining true to his roots, Bruno sings almost exclusively in French, though this has not prevented legions of fans from all over the world to come together in appreciation for his music. Fluency in the French language is not necessary to love and appreciate Bruno’s beautiful voice, whether listening to his solo projects or his work with various musicals.

After different forays into various musical groups – including English-speaking bands Anamite and Sneak Preview – Bruno’s solo career kicked off in the late 80s and early 90s with his role in Luc Plamondon’s La Légende de Jimmy and his first studio album, self-titled, in 1992. The rest of the 90s consisted of three other albums and two more roles in musicals, Starmania and Notre-Dame de Paris, the latter in which he reprised his role of Gringoire in the English production in London.

In addition to two more solo albums in the 2000s (and his first performance in the U.S. in 2009), Bruno also participated in different projects, including a Christmas album with l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (l’OSM) and a jazz album alongside the GrosZorchestre: Julie Lamontagne, Richard Irwin, and Dave Watts. In 2006 he starred in as the titular character and was the creative director for the musical, Dracula: Entre l’amour et la mort, which was performed both in Québec and France. He also played the role of Napoléon in Les Filles de Caleb.

The 2010s have seen Bruno’s eleventh studio album, Rendus-là, the concert reprisal of Notre-Dame de Paris in Russia, Ukraine, and France, a long string of concerts and a tour in eastern Europe and Asia, and three seasons as a coach for the Québécois television show, Un air de famille.  In September 2014, he released an album of covers from films alongside Guy St-Onge.  His next album, Regarde autour, was released in 2016,  and in 2017 he led a tour alongside Julie Lamontagne, entitled Soirée intime, which was eventually released as a live album in early 2018.

In April 2018, Bruno was invited to perform at Grandview Heights High School in Columbus, Ohio, sponsored by Ohio State University.  He presented his show, Soirée intime, alongside Julie Lamontage.  Earlier in the day, he gave a masterclass to students of the French department at Ohio State University.  This marked his second performance in the United States, his first being in Los Angeles, California in 2009 at the House of Blues.
